The Charlotte Hornets may just have struck gold with their first round selection in the 2024 NBA Draft. The sixth overall pick, Tidjane Salaün, is already starting to turn some heads around the league. Listen, we completely understand that it is JUST preseason, but the signs that we’re seeing are worth paying attention to.

The rookie has put up three solid performances in the first three preseason games. In game one, Salaün recorded 11 points and 1 rebound. In game two, he recorded 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. And, in the third game, he recorded 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 assist.

The stats are great, but perhaps most surprising of all? Tidjane is a shooter! In his first three preseason games, Tidjane Salaün is shooting 45%+ from three point range. The rookie is 10/22, and he is already exceeding Hornets fans expectations.

As we mentioned, it is preseason. Tidjane clearly has a LOT of work left to do in order to become a pivotal piece of this franchise. But, I’m not sure anyone expected him to show this many pro-ready flashes this early. Hornets fans, we’ve got yet another reason for hope.
