I never thought I’d be saying this, especially after how the season started, but I'm genuinely excited for the Panthers' matchup against the Chiefs this week, who are coming off their first loss of the season. We have plenty to be excited about based on what we've seen over the past two weeks:

Bama Bryce, is that you?
It has not gone unnoticed the confidence level that has risen in Bryce Young. After a rocky start to the season, Bryce has begun to show signs of regaining his confidence, a crucial step in his development. Early struggles with decision-making and inconsistent play led to questions about his mental toughness, but recent performances suggest a shift. In his last few games, the young signal-caller has demonstrated improved poise in the pocket, making quicker, more decisive throws, and taking calculated risks that have paid off. His body language has also changed—gone are the visible signs of frustration after a bad play. Instead, he’s quickly shaking off mistakes and focusing on the next opportunity. As Bryce's confidence continues to rise, the potential for him to take control of the offense is becoming more evident, and his growth as a leader is starting to shine through.

Healthy Offense, Health Defense!
In last week’s win over the New York Giants, we got a glimpse of what a healthy Carolina defense can look like. D.J. Wonnum made his season debut and certainly didn’t disappoint. Add in a fully healthy Shy Tuttle alongside A’Shawn Robinson, Clowney, Josey, and the list goes on—plus the lockdown presence of Jaycee Horn and Fuller—and this defense has all the makings of a dominant force. The real test, however, will come when they face off against Patrick Mahomes.
The offense is shaping up to be an exciting watch this week, especially with rookie running back Jonathon Brooks set to make his debut against Kansas City. Adam Thielen is also on track to return to a wide receiver group that’s been stepping up in a big way. With three rookie receivers ranked among the top 12 in this year’s class—one of whom went undrafted—the supporting cast has been impressive. Thielen’s return will undoubtedly provide a familiar and comforting presence for Bryce.
As the team heads into this pivotal matchup, there is opportunity: this is their chance to prove they can compete with the league's best. Facing an offense that has shown weaknesses and can be stopped, it's a prime moment for the defense to shine and for Carolina to make a statement. With momentum on their side and confidence building, this game could be the turning point in their season.
